Where the Exodus is located in secular history is tied inextricably to the wide divergence between the biblical and Egyptian timelines. Placing the Exodus at the end of the Old Kingdom of Egypt fits with the biblical narrative, with Egyptian history, and with the Conquest that followed 40 years later.
