Abstract

The "ruin-reconstruction theory" (or "gap theory") suggests a time gap between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2, allowing for a pre-Adamic world. Advocates argue that the original creation was destroyed due to Satan's fall, explaining fossil records. Key arguments include the translation of "was" as "became," the meaning of "waste and void," and the distinction between "created" and "made." In this paper, the author argues that the theory lacks biblical support and contradicts the six-day creation account in Exodus 20:11.
