Abstract

Reports on an investigation of an alleged overthrust in the Franklin Mountains. The author describes the geological formations in the area and notes that the presence of alluvial deposits makes it difficult to collect data. The author observes that Ordovician rock formations appear to overlie Cretaceous formations, but there is no physical evidence of an overthrust. The geologist accompanying the author on the trip admitted that the overthrust was assumed solely because the fossils were "out of order" according to conventional geological timelines.
