Abstract

This paper presents an argument for understanding repetitive rock layers called cyclothems through the lens of Noah's Flood. The author critiques prevailing uniformitarian geological theories that attempt to explain cyclothems with slow, ongoing processes, highlighting what he sees as their inadequacies and their underlying anti-Biblical presuppositions. Woodmorappe then proposes a "Diluvian" interpretation, asserting that the worldwide distribution and other characteristics of cyclothems are better explained by the catastrophic sedimentation and tectonic activity associated with a global flood. The paper delves into various features of cyclothems, such as their composition and the presence of fossils, reinterpreting them as evidence for this single, immense watery event rather than long periods of gradual deposition.
