Abstract
Calculations of the energy needed for continental drift as well as the energy dissipated by it show that classical continental drift will notfit into a creationist framework. If it is believed that the continents were at one time joined, then either God separated them in a manner in which the laws of nature were not involved or the earth expanded in such a way that the viscous forces were not involved.
