Abstract

This article describes orogeny (mountain building) from a young-Earth creationist perspective. Bernard Northrup, a theologian and Bible-science lecturer, argues that rapid continental drift, possibly triggered by astral impacts, occurred after the biblical Flood, generating significant heat that contributed to mountain formation and possibly initiating an ice age. He contends that existing geological evidence supports this rapid, catastrophic model, contrasting it with the uniformitarian views of mainstream geologists.
