Abstract

To ask the question, Is the universe a thermodynamic system?, is meaningless scientifically. Scientific opinions regarding the extent of the universe vary widely. Examples of both conservative statements and unqualified speculation are found in current reports. There is no way to determine the extent of the universe or its thermodynamic character at the present time using the scientific method alone. However, a Christian may use the Scriptures and reach the conclusion that the universe is a thermodynamic system, since it is subject to the first and second laws of thermodynamics. It is speculated herein that the universe is also an isolated thermodynamic system. I. Gen
