Abstract
The "fishapod" Tiktaalik has been hailed by many as one of the best examples of a transitional form in the fossil record, filling in the gap between fish and tetrapods (four-legged animals). Since its initial discovery in 2006, however, new finds have come to light that have complicated the picture of fish-to-tetrapod evolution. This article reviews the history of the discussion on fish-to-tetrapod evolution from both an evolutionist and a young-age creationist perspective, and suggests exciting new directions for young-age creationist research on this topic.
