Abstract

This article attempts to calculate how the Biblical Flood might have affected radiocarbon dating. The author proposes that the concentration of radiocarbon in the atmosphere increased significantly after the Flood due to cosmic rays, while human lifespans decreased. The author argues that the increase in radiocarbon concentration would be proportional to the decrease in average lifespan. The author suggests that this could explain why radiocarbon dating often yields ages that are older than expected based on other evidence. The author argues that radiocarbon dating would be unreliable for samples from the time of the Flood or earlier, as these samples would have started with a much lower concentration of radiocarbon
